Aromatherapy | Introduction

Introducing you to Rebecca, our Aromatherapist

“When I discovered that I was going to be learning aromatherapy as part of my college curriculum I could not wait to start researching the various essential oils and creating my own blends for my case studies. Whilst I was studying aromatherapy, I found the history and the science behind it very fascinating. I am also passionate about health and wellbeing, and I believe that alongside a healthy lifestyle, aromatherapy can really help to promote a sense of wellbeing.”

WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY?

Aromatherapy is the practice of using essential oils to help enhance physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Essential oils are natural oils extracted from various parts of plants including flowers, leaves, stems, bark, fruit and nuts. During aromatherapy massage, not only are the oils absorbed into the skin but they also interact with the sensory and respiratory systems which has a dynamic effect on the mind and body. Each essential oil has its own unique therapeutic properties; they can work on a physical level to help improve the skin’s overall condition, increase the body’s circulation, ease muscle pain and can also treat sinus conditions. They can also be highly effective in treating psychological conditions such as stress, fatigue, depression and anxiety, as well as regulating sleep patterns and boosting the body’s immunity.

Before the treatment I will go through an in-depth consultation with you. This helps me to find out about your lifestyle and current state of mind. I will then select the appropriate oils based on your needs and concerns, so that the treatment is 100% tailor made to suit you. The treatment will begin with a breathing exercise, followed by a foot cleanse and then a full body massage.

I would highly recommend booking in for a course of four aromatherapy treatments in order to see a long term improvement in your overall wellbeing.

Each month I will be sharing with you knowledge about the therapeutic powers of essential oils so make sure you look out for next month’s post.

I look forward to seeing you soon.
